About the Doctors
Dr. James A. Talbot
Dr. James Talbot has been serving his community as dentist for over 20 years! He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Northwestern University in Chicago. Dr. Talbot is an active member of many leading dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, Pierre Fauchard Academy and the Northwestern District Dental Society. He is also an active member of the community who regularly volunteers with the Gilmer County Rotary Club, the Women of Hope and the American Cancer Society.
Dr. George M. Talbot, Jr.
Dr. George Talbot is an esteemed member of the dental community, with over 40 years of experience. He finished his undergraduate education at Columbia Union College and his dental education at Loma Linda University in California before founding Talbot Dental Associates in Gilmer county in 1973. He is a member of many dental organizations, among them the American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association and the Northwest District Dental Society. Away from the office, Dr. Talbot enjoys golf, music and spending time with his entire family: his wife Linda (one of our dental hygienists), his six children, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Dr. Ron W. Reid
Dr. Reid has been setting the highest standard of excellence in dentistry for over 30 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Alabama. He then completed a general practice residency in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Reid is an active member of the American Dental Association, and is active in his community, volunteering regularly with the Shepard Spinal Center and the Special Olympics. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, deep sea fishing and boating.
Dr. Amelia G. Hughes
Dr. Hughes was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Her father was a dentist and she enjoyed spending time in his office. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in biology, and received her dental degree from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. Dr. Hughes had a family dental practice in Roswell, Georgia for 15 years before joining Talbot Dental Associates. She and her husband, J.D., and their two boys, Grant and Avery, moved to Blue Ridge to escape the hustle and bustle of city living. They are loving the peaceful life in the North Georgia Mountains.
Dr. Michael A. Holmes
Dr. Holmes is Talbot Dental Associates’ resident pediatric dentist who has been practicing since 2000. He graduated from Emory University with a bachelor’s degree, and then later from Northwestern University’s dental school for his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. An expert in pediatric dentistry, Dr. Holmes is considered Board-Eligible by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and is an active member of both the American Dental Association and the Georgia Dental Association. When not in the office, Dr. Holmes enjoys spending time with his two children, Gyrold and Alexander Michael, Jr.
