About the Doctors

Dr. James E. Talbot

James Talbot has been serving his community as a dentist for over 20 years. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Northwestern University in Chicago. Dr. Talbot is an active member of many leading dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association and the Northwestern District Dental Society. He is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Experience and extensive continuing education allow Dr. Talbot to provide a wide range of treatments for his patients, including root canals, difficult extractions, oral sedation and the treatment of children. Dr. Talbot also has comprehensive training and experience in restoring implants and cosmetic procedures. He is an active member of the community and regularly volunteers with the Gilmer County Rotary Club, the Women of Hope and the American Cancer Society.

Dr. George M. Talbot, Jr.

Dr. George Talbot is an esteemed member of the dental community, with over 40 years of experience. He finished his undergraduate education at Columbia Union College and his dental education at Loma Linda University in California before founding Talbot Dental Associates in Gilmer county in 1973. He is a member of many dental organizations, among them the American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association and the Northwest District Dental Society. Away from the office, Dr. Talbot enjoys golf, music and spending time with his entire family: his wife Linda, his six children, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Dr. Ron W. Reid

Dr. Reid has been setting the highest standard of excellence in dentistry for over 30 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Alabama. He then completed a general practice residency in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Reid is an active member of the American Dental Association, and is active in his community, volunteering regularly with the Shepherd Spinal Center and the Special Olympics. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, deep sea fishing and boating.

Dr. Michael A. Holmes

Dr. Holmes is Talbot Dental Associates’ resident pediatric dentist who has been practicing since 2000. He graduated from Emory University with a bachelor’s degree, and then later from Northwestern University’s dental school for his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. An expert in pediatric dentistry, Dr. Holmes is considered Board-Eligible by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and is an active member of both the American Dental Association and the Georgia Dental Association. When not in the office, Dr. Holmes enjoys spending time with his two children, Alexander Leigh and Michael, Jr.

Dr. Laura C. Ridley

Dr. Ridley is the newest addition to the Talbot Dental Family. She comes to us from Fort Hood, Texas where her husband Gabe just completed a 12 month tour of duty in Iraq with the U.S. Army. Dr. Ridley earned a B.S. degree in Biomedical Science from Auburn University and her Doctorate of Medical Dentistry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After graduating dental school, she gained advanced training in General Dentistry as a Resident Dentist with the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Ridley has a passion for dentistry that is demonstrated by her devotion to each patient. She and her husband are enjoying their new home and the peaceful life of the North Georgia Mountains.
